News Media III and CA Fire

I have written two pieces concerning news media [1,2]. What I failed to do was to suggest how you might get reliable news.

If you have only very limited time, I recommend two good quality weekly programs. First, the Journal Editorial Report. It is produced by a group of WSJ columnists, normally one hour each week. It is a bit academic, but very high quality. Another is CNN GPS (Global Public Square) by Fareed Zakaria. Fareed Zakaria is a center-left WaPo columnist. But he is open-minded and often invites broad-spectrum experts and politicians. As I wrote before, one should give different opinions, from left to right sufficient consideration [3].

As for daily news, WSJ is the only traditional media that is unbiased. Also it needs a paid subscription. Bill O’Rielly daily no-spin news perhaps is the best, and largely unbiased. You also can get a free version with email notification. Furthermore, he often provides explanations for those who have little knowledge or background. Some Fox programs are good (some are too commercialized). The Free Press (https://www.thefp.com/) often has high quality reports or analysis. Its style is fearless (so some may feel uncomfortable from time to time). Megyn Kelly is good, especially if you are interested in scandals and gossip. For some topics, for example lawsuits. You may consult special web sites such as The Dershow With Alan Dershowitz. [4] suggests some right-leaning podcasts. My suggestion would know both left and right then process all facts.

I still have not fully worked out why traditional mainstream media became corrupted. [5] exposed how some media manipulated reports.

After the references, there is a list of news items on California Fire. The one by Victor Hanson is perhaps most clear.
